Park benches that lay claim to the “Greatest City in America.” A lonely parked station wagon idling in the grass. Mobs of people dressed in black, swarming Brendan Yates as he sits by his lonesome in said vehicle. And fast moving cars that follow the stylistic choices made by hardcore band Turnstile. These key elements found in the band’s newest music video LOOK OUT FOR ME, draw listeners into their new sound and set the precedent for their highly anticipated fourth studio album NEVER ENOUGH.
The over seven minute music video visually draws fans into the fourteen track album that will also include a movie set to release in theaters on June 5th. The Baltimore, Maryland band has grinded their way through the underground scene for nearly a decade, giving fans an unforgettable experience. From no barrier shows to relentless touring, the hardcore band has set the stage of what we can expect from them.
The expectations for NEVER ENOUGH remain high, following the commercial success of their previous album GLOW ON, released in 2021. The album was featured on Rolling Stone’s Best 50 Albums of 2021 at No.8 and received three nominations during the 65th Grammys. GLOW ON was the album that broke them out of the underground scene, which few bands have been able to do. Those who have tuned in since the beginning saw Turnstile's sound evolve from pure raw aggression, to the dream-like indie tracks, “NEVER ENOUGH” and “SEEIN’ STARS” off their new album.
True fans of the hardcore genre follow the sentiment that hardcore is a mindset. A culture. An ethos. Not a sound. As Turnstile continues to genre bend and break visual barriers that no band in the scene has done before, they pave their own way for the release of NEVER ENOUGH and propel fan anticipation even further. Fans can even secure an exclusive copy of NEVER ENOUGH when they join the Gimme Metal Vinyl Club. New members get 20% off their first month with code: VINYLCLUB20.
What else can we expect from the band off the album? With new guitarist Meg Mills joining them, tracks like BIRDS remaining true to their original hardcore culture, and dreamier explorations, expectations can appear up in the air.
No matter what, Turnstile remains a pioneer in the hardcore scene and will continue to do so with this release. NEVER ENOUGH releasing on June 6th, will be shipped exclusively to Vinyl Club members. Click here to join the club today!
